India’s vast array of flavors are balanced in this modern take on a global favorite. Notes of tart tamarind and spicy ginger highlight the savoriness of a classic mojito. The sugar cane spirit arak—similar to rum—adds a sweet, rustic finish.
Ingredients
metric standard5 mint leaves
25 ml fresh lime juice
25 ml tamarind syrup (or substitute with maple syrup)
60 ml arak (or substitute with white rum)
Sparkling water (on top)
Mint crown (garnish)
Preparation
Combine mint leaves, fresh lime juice, and tamarind syrup in a Collins glass. Gently muddle. Add arak and ice. Stir with a swizzle stick or barspoon. Top with more ice and sparkling water. Garnish with a mint crown.
