The ultimate summer spritz
A sophisticated take on the classic Austrian spritzer. It combines Grüner Veltliner with the unique blanc bitter aperitif, adding body and botanical notes to keep the cocktail from being too sweet. Bright, crisp, and extremely refreshing, it’s a versatile drink best served ice cold.
Ingredients
metric standard45 ml Grüner Veltliner (or Pinot Gris or Pinot Blanc)
15 ml gin
15 ml white pepper syrup
15 ml blanc bitter aperitif (or substitute gentian liqueur)
60 ml Prosecco
Orange slice (garnish)
Dill (garnish)
Preparation
Combine all ingredients, except Prosecco, in a glass. Add ice and stir lightly. Top with Prosecco. Garnish with an orange slice and dill.
For white pepper syrup, toast 40 g of coarsely cracked white peppercorns in a pan to open the flavor. Combine with equal parts sugar and water. Bring to a boil and let cool. Strain any solids.
