Brotherly love from the Philippines and Mexico
The Kuya Hermano is a modern celebration of the Philippines’ and Mexico’s shared Spanish influence. Named after the word for "brother" in both cultures, this cocktail features a balanced mix of tropical tones. The Mexican elote (corn) and Philippine-inspired banana liqueurs round out the savory elements to create a harmonious treat.
Ingredients
metric standard60 ml tequila
10 ml banana liqueur
10 ml elote liqueur (such as amaro nonino or l’aperitivo nonino)
15 ml calamansi liqueur (such as triple sec or any other citrus liqueur)
10 ml coconut cream
15 ml fresh lemon juice
4 dashes aromatic bitters
Mint sprig (garnish)
Lemon slice (optional, garnish)
Preparation
Combine all ingredients into a glass. Half fill with crushed ice and mix with a swizzle stick. Top with more crushed ice and a dash of aromatic bitters. Optional: Garnish with a mint sprig and lemon slice.
