Ube Swizzle
Purple perfection
East meets West in this visually stunning cocktail. The star of the show is ube syrup, derived from a sweet root vegetable popular in Filipino desserts. The syrup blends seamlessly with white rum, also used in the classic swizzle cocktail from the Caribbean. Thick and incredibly smooth, it’s a harmonious drink that blends hints of vanilla, a slight nutty quality, and earthy undertones.
Ingredients
metric standard45 ml white rum
15 ml coconut liqueur
10 ml lemon juice
25 ml ube syrup
Mint (garnish)
Torched cinnamon stick (garnish)
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a shaker, add ice, and shake vigorously. Pour into a glass and fill with more ice. Garnish with mint and a torched cinnamon stick.
For ube syrup, combine ube, cream of coconut, and sugar in a blender. Use 25 g of each ingredient. Add 60 ml of water. Blend until smooth.
